HC Deb 22 November 1927 vol 210 c1629W
Mr. WELSH

asked the Postmaster-General whether, seeing that since Christmas Day falls this year on a Sunday and the following Tuesday is being made a bank holiday by Royal Proclamation, which applies to the Post Office staff in England and Wales, whereas the staff in Scotland gets no holiday on that date, or one in lieu of that holiday, will he say whether he proposes to take steps to put the Scottish staff on an equality with the English staff?

Sir W. MITCHELL-THOMSON

As on previous occasions of the kind, instructions are being given that as many as possible of the Post Office staff in Scotland shall be released from duty on Monday, the 26th December, and those who have to attend on that day will be granted a day's holiday in lieu.
