HC Deb 17 November 1927 vol 210 cc1137-8W
Mr. WARDLAW-MILNE

asked the Postmaster-General whether his attention has been drawn to an award dated 28th July, 1927, made by the Industrial Court, granting certain increases of pay to postal sorters, and that these increases are to date from 1st August, 1927 (in a few cases from 1st June, 1927); whether he is aware that the matter was referred to the Court on 17th November, 1926, and that on 3rd December, 1926, the President of the Court, in postponing the hearing, gave an undertaking that the petitioners should not be prejudiced by such postponement and that if any award for an increase were made such award should date from the time when the matter was referred; and if he can state why this undertaking has not been carried out?

Viscount WOLMER

I would refer my hon. Friend to the reply given to a similar question by my hon. and gallant Friend the Member for the Birkenhead, East, Division (Lieut.-Colonel Stott) on the 15th November.
