HC Deb 17 November 1927 vol 210 cc1144-5W
Sir R. GOWER

asked the Home Secretary the total number of dogs used for vivisectional experiments under the Cruelty to Animals Act, 1876, in Great Britain and Northern Ireland during 1925, and also during 1926, under licence alone; the number of dogs experimented upon without anæsthetics for which Certificates A + E were granted; the number of dogs allowed to recover from the anæsthetic for which Certificates B + EE were granted; and how many dogs were used under Certificate C for experiments before students?

This in-formation is not available, and could only be obtained, if at all, by a long inquiry which I do not think I should be justified in undertaking.
