HC Deb 17 November 1927 vol 210 c1148W
Sir H. LUCAS-TOOTH

asked the Minister of Agriculture whether he pro-poses to take any further steps, legislative or otherwise, with regard to the drainage of the Ouse this Session?

Mr. GUINNESS

I have carefully considered the question and am satisfied that any further legislative action this Session is impossible. Before deciding what further action can be taken I propose to await the Report of the Royal Commission on Land Drainage.

Mr. CONNOLLY

asked the Minister of Agriculture whether it is the intention of the Government to introduce during next Session a national Land Drainage Bill?

Mr. GUINNESS

Until the Government has received and considered the Report of the Royal Commission on Land Drainage it would be premature to make any announcement with regard to further land drainage legislation.
