HC Deb 16 November 1927 vol 210 c1051W
Mr. WESTWOOD

asked the Minister of Transport, if he is aware that omnibuses and tramcars registered to carry from 29 to 31 passengers, in and around the city of Edinburgh, are many times crowded with from 50 to 60 passengers, and that this is dangerous to life and limb; and what action is he prepared to take to secure safe transport and adequate accommodation for passengers in tramcars and omnibuses in Edinburgh?

Colonel ASHLEY

The prevention of excessive overcrowding on omnibuses and tramcars is primarily a matter for the police, who, I understand, have recently been giving special consideration to this question in Edinburgh.
