HC Deb 16 November 1927 vol 210 cc1050-1W
Mr. WHEATLEY

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland the number of persons who applied at the police stations in the City of Glasgow for shelter, and claimed to be homeless, during the past year?

Sir J. GILMOUR

Arrangements made in 1926 by the Glasgow magistrates with the parish council provide that all persons applying for night shelter at police offices shall be referred to the parish council offices, where applications are received up to 12 o'clock midnight for admission to the poorhouse. Statistics as to the number of persons referred to the parish council are not available. In addition to such persons, 1,302 persons were given shelter in the police offices during the year ended 31st October, 1927.
