asked the Minister of Health how many towns have adopted town planning schemes under the Housing and Town Planning Act, and how many have taken no action in the matter?

If the population figure given by the hon. Member in previous questions is adopted for the purposes of the present question, there are 494 boroughs and urban districts with a population of 10,000 persons or more. The number in whose areas town planning action has been taken, either by the local council or by another authority are as follows: Town planning resolutions passed, 227; preliminary statements approved, 58; final schemes approved, 13.
