HC Deb 15 November 1927 vol 210 cc846-7W
Mr. LANSBURY

asked the Minister of Health whether he will lay upon the Table of the House for circulation to Members a copy of the Report he received from his assistant inspectors relative to the conditions of work and general administration of the Hollesley Bay labour colony during the period of their visit to the colony in June last; and will he inform the House whether it is the intention of his Department to take any measures for improving the work now being carried on at this colony?

Sir K. WOOD

The Report in question is a confidential one made to the Minister and it is not intended to publish it. The possibility of improving the work at the colony is now being considered by the Central Unemployed Body, but my right hon. Friend understands that one of the great obstacles in the way of securing really satisfactory results there lies in the low quality of the men who are selected for training at the colony by London boards of guardians.
