asked the Home Secretary the number of prosecutions that have been instituted in the Metropolitan police area during the 12 months ended to the last convenient date against small shopkeepers for keeping gaming machines, whose shops are frequented by children, and the result of the prosecution in each case?

Figures cannot be given for a recent period of 12 months, but for the period from March to October, 1927, the number of prosecutions against the various classes of persons referred to in Section 44 of the Metropolitan Police Act, 1839, was 371, and convictions followed in nearly every case.
