STEEL-MAITLANDAt 26th September, 1927, the number of persons classified as belonging to the coalmining industry recorded as unemployed at employment exchanges in the county of Lanark was 10,635. I am unable to state how many of these, were in receipt. of benefit, but 9,633 had current claims to benefit at that date.
