asked the Home Secretary the average percentage increase in the payment of policemen from 1914 to 1927?

§ Captain HACKING
In view of the variations in the rates of pay in the different forces in 1914, I cannot give any exact figure, but the average increase in pay for forces in England and Wales may be taken approximately as 160 per cent.
