§ Sir A. STEEL-MAITLANDAt 25th April, 1927, the number of persons on the registers of Employment Exchanges in Great Britain was 1,044,800. Of these 865,129 had current claims to unemployment benefit, but I am unable to say how many were in receipt of benefit.

§ Sir A. STEEL-MAITLANDAt 21st March, 1927, 57,265 persons classified as belonging to the coal mining industry were recorded as unemployed in South Wales and Monmouthshire, including 17,028 temporarily stopped from the service of their employers. Of the total number unemployed, 55,886 had current claims to unemployment benefit, but I cannot say how many were in receipt of benefit.
§ Colonel DAYasked the Minister of Labour the number of persons on the register of the Borough Road, Walworth, Employment Exchange to the last convenient date, together with comparable figures for the corresponding period last year, showing the persons normally in regular employment, wholly unemployed or temporarily stopped, also persons normally in casual employment, giving the separate figures for men, boys, women, and girls?
