§ Mr. SITCHasked the Minister or Health the number of dairies in England and Wales and the number inspected in the 12 months ending 31st December, 1926, by the two milk inspectors?
Mr. CHAMBERLAINInformation is not available as to the number of dairy farms in England and Wales, but it is estimated to be over 200,000. The number of farms inspected in 1926 by the two milk inspectors of my Department was 220, these being farms for which a licence to sell certified or Grade A (tuberculin tested) milk was held or applied for. The responsibility for the supervision of other farms rests with local authorities.
