§ Sir W. de FRECEasked the Attorney-General whether, in connection with the Poor Persons Legal Aid Department, he is satisfied that the present system governing the allocation of solicitors is working satisfactorily; whether he has received any complaints, especially as to slowness of procedure; and what steps are being taken to investigate and remedy any such complaints brought to his notice?
§ The ATTORNEY-GENERALThe Lord Chancellor has not received any complaints with respect to the working of the system established under the Poor Persons Rules which came into operation on the 6th April, 1926, and has every reason to believe that that system is working well generally. Complaints are made and difficulties arise from time to time with respect to cases pending under the old Rules. Any such complaint is1244W investigated, and such steps are taken as appear to be appropriate and possible in the matter.
