HC Deb 04 March 1927 vol 203 c726W
Colonel DAY

asked the Postmaster-General whether he is aware that the wireless transmitting station of the Manchester Radio Scientific Society known as 2 H.D. are broadcasting on a wave length of 440 metres; whether this is in accordance with the instructions laid down by his Department; and, if not, what action is being taken in the matter?

Sir W. MITCHELL-THOMSON

My attention was called to the fact that this experimental station was being used for the transmission of concerts. I have asked the society to make certain alterations in the class of matter transmitted, and to refrain from using the 440 metres wave length for wireless telephonic transmission. The original licence for the station has been withdrawn, and a fresh licence embodying the revised conditions has been issued.
