FORESTIER-WALKER15,856 oak and beech trees of 100 years old and more have been cut in the New Forest since 1st January, 1926; many of these trees were in a very unhealthy state following repeated defoliation by caterpillars; 206,584 cubic feet have been sold, and the average price per cubic foot received for their sale was for the oak 10d. and for the beech 4d.
