§ Mr. McNEILLThe total number of ex-service men who have been granted permanent non-pensionable status and are now employed in the various Departments is 10,562. With regard to the latter part of the question I would remind the hon. Member that it is one of the conditions of employment of permanent non-pensionable officers that they are liable to transfer to other Departments as the exigencies of the service may demand.
