HC Deb 22 July 1927 vol 209 c720W
Sir H. HOPE

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland whether, in view of the losses incurred by farmers in Forfarshire and the neighbouring counties by large numbers of their horses dying by the disease called grass sickness, he will draw the attention of his research veterinary staff to the matter with a view to finding the cause and, if possible, a cure for this malady?

Sir J. GILMOUR

I would refer the hon. Member to my reply to his question of 3rd July, 1925. The investigation into grass sickness in horses, which presents special difficulties, is being continued by the staff of the Animal Diseases Research Association, members of which have been in Forfarshire and the neighbouring counties for this purpose since the beginning of June this year. No definite result can yet be reported.
