HC Deb 24 February 1927 vol 202 c1935W
Mr. KELLY

asked the Financial Secretary to the Treasury if, with regard to the changes contemplated with the attendants' staff at Somerset House, he will say what arrangements are being made to protect the interests of the men displaced; whether this matter has been discussed by the appropriate Whitley Council; and, if not, whether, before any changes are made, they will be discussed with the men's representatives?

Mr. McNEILL

As regards the first part of the question, I would refer the hon. Member to my reply given to him on the 6th December last. It is hoped to extend an offer of employment under the Office of Works to all the men concerned. As stated in my reply to the hon. Member on the 15th December last, the position was long ago made known to the men's representatives. I am not aware that any desire has since been expressed for further discussion, but if such a desire were notified, I do not doubt that it would be acceded to.
