HC Deb 24 February 1927 vol 202 c1930W
Mr. HORE-BELISHA

asked the First Lord of the Admiralty why the monthly average of recruits coming into the Royal Navy is so low from royal naval depots as compared with other recruiting stations?

Lieut.-Colonel HEADLAM

The figures of 5, 6 and 8 given in the reply of the 28th June, 1926 (OFFICIAL REPORT, Col. 834) are accounted for by the fact that with the exception of entries in a few branches men recruited at the three home ports are included in the numbers returned by the main recruiting offices at London, Southampton, and Bristol.
