HC Deb 24 February 1927 vol 202 c1947W
Major TASKER

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether he can see his way to impose a certain duty per reel per day upon the exhibition of non-British films, the money received by this duty to be used for the further improvement of the British film industry?

Sir P. CUNLIFFE-LISTER

I would refer my hon. Friend to the answer which I gave to the hon. Member for Shrewsbury (Viscount Sandon) on 15th February, a copy of which I am sending him.

Major TASKER

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether it is his intention to include in the proposed quota legislation a Clause for the creation of a committee to inspect all British films and to decide what films are worthy of benefiting from the quota scheme?

Sir P. CUNLIFFE-LISTER

I am afraid that I cannot give detals about the Bill in advance of its introduction.
