§ Mr. GRUNDYasked the Minister of Health whether his attention has been called to the practice of the Bridgnorth Board of Guardians, as publicly affirmed by them and published, of compelling casual paupers to wear nightshirts after the same shirts have been worn by one or more casual paupers, without washing or fumigation; whether he is aware that such practice is calculated to spread vermin and disease among casual paupers and from them to the rest of the community: and, in view of Article 5 of the Casual Paupers Order, 1925, what steps he proposes to take in the matter?
Mr. CHAMBERLAINThe guardians have recently informed me that they are perfectly satisfied that the regulations in the matter of the provision of suitable night-clothing are carried out, but I am in communication with them on certain aspects of their administration in regard to casuals, and I will take the opportunity of making further inquiries on the point raised by the hon. Member.
