HC Deb 17 February 1927 vol 202 c1126W
Mr. HAYES

asked the Minister of Pensions whether he will consider the desirability of amending the pension warrants so that the pension of a widowed mother which has ceased on re-marriage may be reissued in the event of the second husband dying and the widow being in pecuniary need and unable to work by reason of age or infirmity?

Major TRYON

The proposed amendment would be contrary to the longstanding principles on which compensation by way of pension is awarded to female dependants, either under the Warrants of the Great War, or those of the Service Departments. In these circumstances, I fear that I could not adopt the hon. Member's suggestion.
