HC Deb 17 February 1927 vol 202 cc1122-3W
Viscount SANDON

asked the Minister of Labour whether he will give the posts filled, trade by trade, through the instrumentality of the Employment Exchanges in 1925 and 1926?

Mr. BETTERTON

The following table gives an industrial analysis of the vacancies filled by persons 18 years of age and over through the instrumentality of Ministry of Labour Employment Exchanges during 1925 and 1926:

Owing to a recent change in the date at which the annual statistics are compiled the figures for 1926 cover a period of only 50 weeks, while those for 1925 relate to a period of 52 weeks.

An industrial analysis of the vacancies filled by juveniles under the age of 18 is not available. These numbered 236,797 in 1925 and 220,225 in 1926.

The figures given above do not include vacancies filled in connection with Post Office temporary Christmas work.
