HC Deb 16 February 1927 vol 202 c940W
Mr. GATES

asked the Secretary of state for War whether, in view of the increased cost of fuel and light and the increased charge for so many necessities in the case of married officers, serving and pensioned, he can see his way to postpone the announced further deduction from the 20 per cent. bonus awarded in 1919?

Sir L. WORTHINGTON-EVANS

No, Sir; the reduction follows on the fall in the cost of living since 1st July, 1919, as determined by the Ministry of Labour index figures of comparative retail prices. These figures take into consideration current prices.
