HC Deb 11 February 1927 vol 202 cc445-6W
Colonel DAY

asked the Minister of Health the number of deaths occurring from diphtheria for the 12 months ending to the last convenient date; and whether he will consider the introduction of legislation making it compulsory for all children to be immunised from diphtheria by the Schick test and treatment?

Mr. NEVILLE CHAMBERLAIN

The provisional number of deaths registered in England and Wales during 1926 which were certified as due to diphtheria was 2,923. The answer to the second part of the question is in the negative.
