§ Sir W. JOYNSON-HICKSThe number of articles found in public conveyances and deposited with the Metropolitan police during the 12 months ended 30th November, 1927, was 184,735, of which 111,430 were not claimed by the losers. The corresponding figures for property found elsewhere in the Metropolitan police district were 87,798 and 45,151 respectively. The former number includes 10,429 pieces of timber deposited with the Thames police and the 4,051 pieces remaining unclaimed have been handed to the Customs authorities. No record is kept of the total values of the articles.
