HC Deb 21 December 1927 vol 212 c429W
Sir A. HOLBROOK

asked the First Lord of the Admiralty whether he will consider the making of a grant of marriage allowance to married naval officers when placed on half-pay, having regard to the fact that half-pay, as a rule, means about one-third of the pay actually received by them when they are employed?

Lieut.-Colonel HEADLAM

I regret that it is not possible, in view of the decision of His Majesty's Government on the question, to introduce any form of allowance for married naval officers.
