asked the Minister of Labour if he is aware that John Wilshire, of Aberbeeg, Monmouth, who was formerly employed at the Aberpergwm Collieries, Glynneath, Glamorgan, prior to the coal stoppage of last year, applied to the Resolven Exchange, case No. 4,120 A.D., and was refused payment on the ground that he was idle because of the coal trade stoppage; that he has travelled the whole coalfield but has failed to secure employment; that he applied at the Abertillery Exchange, No. 5,271, on 17th November, 1926, and was again refused; and that he again

Exact figures are not available, but the following table gives the best estimate that can be made on the basis of such information as is at my disposal:

applied to the Crumlin Exchange in November last and is still refused unemployment payment although he has done all he can to secure employment; and will he cause inquiries to be made so that his claim shall be granted?
