§ Mr. TASKERasked the Minister of Health what is the present position of the town-planning scheme for Stanmore; whether he is aware that the Hendon Rural District Council is proposing to depart from the plan by sanctioning the erection of shops on the village green; and whether he has received representations from public bodies and local residents protesting against any such destruction of the amenities of this village?
Mr. CHAMBERLAINA preliminary statement of the council's town-planning proposals has been approved. It is within the discretion of the council to allow this development, and I do not think it right that I should interfere with their exercise of that discretion. I have received some representations on the matter, and have replied to this effect
