HC Deb 15 December 1927 vol 211 cc2527-8W
Mr. SULLIVAN

asked the Secretary for Mines if he is aware that the employers at Milnwood Colliery, Bellshill, altered the hours for lowering the men on the back-shift without any consultation with the representatives of the men; whether the divisional inspector of mines was consulted in the matter; and what action, if any, has been taken by him?

Sir P. CUNLIFFE-LISTER

I am aware that there has recently been an alteration in the time of beginning work on the back-shift at this pit, but this is a matter over which the inspectors of mines have no jurisdiction. At the same time, a question has arisen in regard to the winding time, and this latter point is being dealt with by the divisional inspector.
