The above particulars relate to the numbers of officers employed in the above grades on 1st October last. Acting officers are shown in the grades in which they are acting. The group "Higher Executive Officers and Staff Officers" includes a number of posts on the scale £400-£500, e.g., in clerical establishments, which cannot be shown separately. The scales quoted are the basic rates for men in London. The numbers given cover provincial as well as London staffs.
