HC Deb 09 December 1927 vol 211 cc1740-1W
Mr. LEE

asked the Under-Secretary of State for the Home Department, as representing the First Commissioner of Works, whether he has considered any alternative method of lighting in the Houses of Parliament to obviate the inconvenience of the failure of the electric light or has he considered the plan of adopting storage batteries?

Sir V. HENDERSON (for The FIRST COMMISSIONER of WORKS)

I would refer the hon. Member to the replies which I gave to questions in the House on the 28th and 30th November. My Noble Friend does not feel that the very heavy cost involved in the provision of storage batteries would be justified.
