§ Mr. LANSBURYasked the Under-Secretary of State for India what considerations the Government had in withholding from publication the Report of the sub-committee of the Indian Sandhurst Committee; whether he is aware that none of the witnesses before the Committee or sub-committee claimed any privilege or sought permission to give evidence in camera; and whether, in view of these facts and in view of the importance attached in India to certain evidence recorded by the sub-committee, the Government will reconsider the question; of publishing the full Report of that Committee?
§ Earl WINTERTONThe Report embodies evidence given by official witnesses which it has been decided to treat as confidential. That decision rests with the Government and is not affected by the suggestion contained in the second part of the question. The answer to the last part is in the negative.
