HC Deb 06 December 1927 vol 211 c1202W
Viscountess ASTOR

asked the Home Secretary if he has received a request from residents in the urban district areas of Barnes and Mortlake that police women should patrol the open spaces in this area; if he has found it possible to grant this request; and, if not, what are the reasons which have led him to this decision?

Sir W. JOYNSON-HICKS

I received certain representations on the subject, but I found on inquiry that the open spaces in question are patrolled periodically by women police as well as by male police (uniformed and plain clothes), and came to the conclusion that the existing arrangements are adequate.
