HC Deb 26 April 1927 vol 205 cc678-9W
Colonel DAY

asked the Minister of Health whether, in view of the Report of the Departmental Committee on the treatment of flour with chemical substances, he is considering the introduction of legislation to enforce a recommendation that flour should be in the product of the milling of wheat without the addition of any foreign substances; and, in view of the menace to the health of the nation, will he consider incorporating in any legislation introduced a Clause that will in future prohibit the making or kneading of bread by hand by the introduction and installation of mechanical mixers?

Mr. CHAMBERLAIN

No, Sir. I am not proposing, at present, to introduce legislation of the nature suggested.
