HC Deb 05 April 1927 vol 204 c1898W
Mr. RENNIE SMITH

asked the Under-Secretary of State for India whether he is aware that in the court of the first-class magistrate, Diburgarh, a man named Rasih Nandi was sentenced to receive 15 stripes, and that the warder who was asked to execute the order inflicted the stripes on another prisoner, Ghana Mahut, the case against whom was still pending; whether he will order a full inquiry as to how such a mistake was possible; and what steps the Government of India propose to take in the matter?

Earl WINTERTON

This is the first I have heard of the matter. If the hon. Member will be good enough to let me know on what his question is based, my Noble Friend will have inquiry made.
