§ Mr. ROBERT WILSONasked the Minister of Labour whether he can give figures showing the number of persons securing employment in hotels and restaurants in this country through Employment Exchanges and private agencies, respectively?
§ Mr. BETTERTONThe only figures readily available as regards these employments are those for women employés placed by Employment Exchanges. These are, for the present year up to 25th October, 14,145 resident servants in hotels and boarding houses, 26,542 non-resident domestic servants of all classes (includ- 221W ing those placed in private dwelling-houses) and 13,040 waitresses in restaurants. No figures are available for placings by private agencies, and in these circumstances I have not thought it necessary to go to the trouble and expense of extracting the figures for placings of men by Employment Ex-changes in corresponding occupations.
