HC Deb 11 November 1926 vol 199 cc1285-6W
Sir C. CAYZER

asked the Minister of Agriculture whether sanitary inspectors are entitled to inspect and isolate cattle under the Tuberculosis Order of 1925 or under any other Order; and whether he has received any complaints from agricultural interests that sanitary inspectors are adopting this practice?

Mr. GUINNESS

Sanitary inspectors are sometimes appointed by local authorities as inspectors for the purposes of the Tuberculosis Order of 1925. In such cases they might be empowered to serve

the quantities of sugar and molasses upon which such subsidy was paid during the 1925–26 manufacturing season:

notices on the owner of a suspected animal pending the veterinary examination required by the Order. I have received no complaints from agricultural interests that sanitary inspectors are acting under the Tuberculosis Order as veterinary inspectors, but if my hon. Friend will communicate to me particulars of any case which has been brought to his notice, I shall be pleased to investigate it.
