HC Deb 11 November 1926 vol 199 c1273W
Mr. FORREST

asked the President of the Board of Trade if, in view of his statement that at the end of June 41 definite applications under the White Paper relating to the safeguarding of industries had been received by his Department, and that of them 21 had been rejected as not disclosing a prima facie case for reference to the Committee, while two were withdrawn, he can give the names of the 23 industries referred to?

Sir B. CHADWICK

No, Sir. As I have frequently stated, I think it is in the interests of British industry that we should continue to conform to the policy followed under the previous Act, and decline to disclose the industries which may have made application in accordance with the White Paper, and have failed to establish aprima facie case.
