HC Deb 11 November 1926 vol 199 c1275W
Mr. HILTON

asked the Secretary for Mines, if he is aware that certain public utility undertakings in Lancashire have considerable stocks of coal, whilst industrial undertakings in the same districts are closed for want of fuel and many hundreds of workpeople thus deprived of the means of earning their livelihood; and will he take steps to release these stocks for industrial purposes?

Colonel LANE FOX

I have full statistics of the stocks of public utility undertakings in Lancashire, and I can assure the hon. Member that they are far from being sufficient to allow of the transfer of any portion of them for industrial purposes.
