HC Deb 11 November 1926 vol 199 c1281W
Sir B. FALLE

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs if he is aware that the amounts due to pre-War creditors of the city of Budapest are being held up; if this payment was agreed to by the International Committee; and if he will make representations in the proper quarter?

Mr. LOCKER-LAMPSON

I am aware that the Budapest municipality had, until recently, failed to come to an agreement with their foreign creditors for the payment of their pre-War obligations, but in the Press of 10th November it was reported that a partial settlement of these claims has now been reached. Although His Majesty's Government have not been approached on the subject by the British creditors, my right hon. Friend is prepared to request His Majesty's Minister at Budapest to report on the present situation.
