HC Deb 04 May 1926 vol 195 c213W
Mr. BECKETT

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether any progress is being made with a revision of the antiquated classification of diseases from which members of the mercantile marine die, so as to reveal the diseases to which this section of the nation is specially liable and from which they need to be further protected?

Sir P. CUNLIFFE-LISTER

The classification of the causes of death of persons employed on British merchant vessels has been referred by the Board of Trade to the Permanent Consultative Committee on Official Statistics. The Board anticipate that the Report of that Committee will be received shortly, and I shall be glad to send a copy of it to the hon. Member when it reaches me.
