HC Deb 11 March 1926 vol 192 c2619W
Commander BELLAIRS

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what is the total amount advanced up to date to Nigeria and the West African Frontier Force; whether it is possible to obtain repayment in instalments; and what is the estimated revenue of Nigeria?

Mr. AMERY

The Grants-in-Aid to Nigeria, including the requirements of the West African Frontier Force in that dependency, were free grants and not loans. Neither capital nor interest can be claimed from the Nigerian Government. The revenue of Nigeria for 1926–26 was estimated at £6,404,701.
