Mr. DAVIDSONThe numbers of the staffs employed in Deptford Victualling Yard are 552, including Police Force. The amount of goods handled, valued at prime cost and excluding duty on dutiable goods, is, approximately, £1,100,000 per annum. This, roughly, is the value of the annual issues, and the stores are, of course, handled several times in the course of their receipt, examination, storage, issue, shipment, etc. In addition, there are the reserves of stock. The cost of maintenance (including wages, etc.) of staffs is, approximately, £117,000 per annum. In addition to the ordinary storekeeping work, there are the cooperage, chocolate mill, repairing shops and similar conversion services.
