HC Deb 04 March 1926 vol 192 cc1621-2W
Mr. CAMPBELL

asked the Minister of Health whether, in view of the decision of the Government not to adopt the recommendation of the Voluntary Hospitals Commission to provide, out of public funds, additional beds in voluntary hospitals, it is proposed to continue that Commission; and, if so, what duties remain for it to discharge?

Mr. CHAMBERLAIN

Yes, Sir. I have asked the Commission to continue their work, both to act as a link between the Government and the voluntary hospitals, and also to keep in touch with the local voluntary hospital committees throughout the country and facilitate communication between them The Commission will advise me on questions relating to voluntary hospitals, and will collect and circulate information likely to be of assistance to local committees, such as the circular on hospital construction now in course of preparation.
