HC Deb 04 March 1926 vol 192 c1629W
Mr. BRIANT

asked the Minister of Health if he has made inquiries as to the use in certain cases of the straw which has served for the bedding of hop pickers for the packing of apples by some fruit growers in Kent; if he has consulted the medical officer of West Kent on the subject; and what steps he intends to take to prevent the practice referred to?

Mr. CHAMBERLAIN

Yes, Sir. Inquiries in this matter have been addressed to the medical officers of health concerned, including the medical officer of health for West Kent, but their reports have not yet been received. I am, therefore, not yet in a position to make any statement in reply to the last part of the question. I may add that I should be glad to receive any information which the hon. Member may be able to give me on the subject.
