§ Mr. JOHNSTONasked the Minister of Transport whether his attention has been drawn to the offers sent in by contractors to the Monifieth Town Council for channeling and drainage work at Ferry Road, Monifieth; whether he is aware that this work is assisted by moneys from the Unemployment Grants Committee; that the lowest tender was not accepted, because it was specifically given in accordance with the Scottish mode of measurement, which has been recognised by the Government since the year 1917; and what steps, if any, he proposes to take in the matter?
§ Colonel ASHLEYThe answer to the first part of the question is in the negative. As regards the second part, I am informed that no assistance towards this scheme has been given by the Unemployment Grants Committee. A grant of 50 per cent. of the local cost, estimated at £860 has, however, been made from the Road Fund. As regards the third part, I have no information, and as regards the last part, I do not consider that the matter calls for any action on my part.
