§ Mr. SHORTasked the Minister of Pensions whether he is aware that John Dudley, No. 8444, South Staffordshires, of 33bk, Cross Street, Wednesbury, is in receipt of a pension of 16s. per week; that he is an inmate of the County Mental Hospital, Burtwood, Lichfield, and that it is contended his condition is due to war service; and will he cause his case to receive immediate investigation with a view to the Ministry accepting full responsibility?
§ Major TRYONI find that the man in question, who is in receipt of pension on account of tuberculosis, accepted as having been aggravated by military service, was discharged in March, 1915. A claim under the Royal Warrant is not open to him in respect of the mental condition which manifested itself more than 10 years after his discharge from service. I know of no grounds on which the action suggested in the last part of the question should be taken.
