§ Lord H. CAVENDISH-BENTINCKasked the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether His Majesty's Government have had their attention called to the evils of the liquor traffic in Palestine; and whether he will state the Regulations, if any, under which the Administration sanction the introduction of intoxicating liquors into the mandated territory?
§ Mr. AMERYThe reply to the first part of the question is in the negative. The import of liquor into Palestine is regulated by a local enactment known as the Customs Duties Amendment Ordinance, 1924; its sale is regulated by the Intoxicating Liquors and Public Entertainments Ordinance, 1922. If the Noble Lord will communicate with me, I shall be glad to furnish him with details of these two enactments.
